Online · Backyard to serious birding

Identify what
you actually saw.

Field guides are organized by species. Birds arrive as a shape in bad light for two seconds. Learning shape, behavior and habitat first is what turns those two seconds into a name.

The programs

Four programs, all worked on birds near you

Your county list, your habitats, your season. Nobody needs a lecture on birds a thousand miles away.

How it works

Send the bad photo

Blurry, backlit and half-hidden is exactly what real birding looks like. Those are the useful ones to work through.

Free intro call

Twenty minutes on where you live, what you have seen and what confuses you.

Bird a patch weekly

Twenty minutes, same route, however ordinary it looks.

Send photos, audio and notes

Including the ones you could not identify.

Written feedback

Within 48 hours: what it was, how to tell, and what to look at next time.

How we work

Coaching, not guiding, and no optics to sell

Aviora is online only. There are no field trips, no guided walks and no gear shop, and no retailer pays us to recommend binoculars.

Two things we insist on: birds come first, so no flushing, no baiting and no playback near nesting birds; and access rules and wildlife protection laws are yours to follow. Nests, eggs and feathers of native species are protected, and nothing about birding involves touching them.

Frequently asked

The questions we get most

What binoculars should I buy?

Usually 8x42, and usually cheaper than people expect for a first pair. We take no commission, and if what you own is fine we'll tell you so.

Are identification apps good enough?

They are a useful second opinion and a poor first one. The songs program teaches you to hear the bird first and then check.

I only have a backyard.

That is a perfectly good patch. A feeder and one tree teach behavior, seasonal change and a surprising species list.

My photos are terrible.

Good. Terrible photos are what identification actually happens on, and working through them is how the skill develops.

Do you run field trips?

No. Everything is online: video sessions plus review of your photos, recordings and notes. For guided days, local Audubon chapters are excellent.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. No contract, no minimum term. Access stays open until the end of the month you already paid for.

Got a bird you could not name?

Twenty minutes on your sightings, your area and where to start. Free.
